Holiday Cottages

Hello, my name is Maggi and aside from running the farm and making sure that our cottages are kept clean and prepared for our guests, I am qualified to offer support for Special needs children and offer a range of supported services for those who require them.

In 1998 I was employed by social services to support a 5 year old boy who has complex special needs. I took him out each Saturday to give his parents quality time with his brother. This was so gratefully received by his parents who struggled to cope with the demands placed on the family in their daily lives.

As time went on I changed my career but never forgot how important it was giving this family just a short break each week to do things many of us take for granted, like going shopping, going swimming or going for a leisurely walk. This is the inspiration for offering support to families who want to go away as a family but have the opportunity to have a break for a day with the confidence that I can support their young person.

Each individual will have an opportunity to voice what they require such as  needing well washed bedding due to sensory issues or for us to replace crockery with melamine just in case!!!!

A questionnaire will be provided so that we can endeavour to deliver the holiday you want. It will be available in ‘communicate in print’ as well as ensure everyone has an opportunity to say what they want

There is a lot to do in North Devon that can give your child the chance to experience something that they like with my support; and also give you the opportunity to relax.

I have worked in Special Education for 25 years working with a range of children and young people. My experience includes working for 11 years in an assessment nursery at a Special School in Stratford upon Avon; working for 10 years at a National Autistic School that had a 52 week residential provision; and supporting a young man who has Downs Syndrome in a mainstream school.

My partner Charlie Mead has over 25 years’ experience working as a Psychologist (and will now be doing the ironing!)
